Pricing Policy
At Sevista, we are committed to producing premium quality garments that rival luxury brands in craftsmanship and materials. However, we believe in fair pricing and transparency, eschewing the practice of charging extra merely for a brand name.
Our Markup Explained
SE VISTA employs a minimum viable markup of 2.5, which is the industry-defined standard for sustainable fashion businesses. This markup is calculated as follows:
- Base Cost: We start with the cost of production, including materials and labor from our partnered family ateliers in Lisbon, Portugal.
- Markup Application: This base cost is multiplied by 2.5 to arrive at the final retail price.
- Allocation of Revenue: a) Production Costs: Approximately 40% of the retail price covers the base production costs. b) Operational Expenses: The remaining 60% is allocated to cover:
- Design team salaries and social security contributions
- Garment development processes
- Operational costs (rent, utilities, equipment)
- Website maintenance and hosting
- Marketing and advertising expenses
- Partner fees and commissions
- Legal and accounting services
Taxation: As a company registered in Portugal, we are subject to a tax rate of approximately 30% on our profits.
Current Pricing
The prices you see on our website already include this markup and applicable taxes. As a small business, our current yearly turnover doesn't require us to charge VAT, but we anticipate this may change in the coming years, possibly by 2026.
Discounts
Due to our use of a minimum viable markup, we do not offer large-scale discounts. However, we may occasionally provide:
- Welcome discounts for new customers
- Discounts on samples or archive pieces that will be discontinued
- Pre-order discounts on select items
Custom Orders and Small Batch Production
We typically do not accept custom orders for entirely different pieces. However, we offer free adjustments to sleeve length and garment length. Our production is done in small batches, allowing us to maintain high quality standards comparable to luxury brands, but at more accessible prices.
Luxury Quality at Fair Prices
While luxury brands often apply markups ranging from 5 to 20 times the production cost, we maintain our 2.5 markup to keep our prices competitive. This approach allows us to focus on using the best possible fabrics and maintaining exceptional quality without inflating prices unnecessarily. At Sevista, we prioritize doing things right rather than doing things cheaply.
